About Dean52

Dean52 was born in March 1967, Greenfield WI, an Aries insomuch that I bother with that crap.

I’ve got two brothers and two sisters, all younger than me. Two wonderful sons, two dear & frustrating parents.

I have an odd sense of humor, on the fence between pessimistic and optimistic, but love nothing more than to laugh. Humanity is a coarse breed that in an instant could self-destruct, but I have my hopes and dreams. I enjoy reading but feel that there is a glut of blah-blah-blah and so I pick and choose very slowly for the most part. Still, I seek the best and most brilliant that may be out there, so I look forward to finding such and hope that individuals can create something which advances us.

I like to read, ride bicycles, hike, garden, play guitar, play piano, draw, paint, philosophize, dwell in the clover patches, and sample the reddest wines. Among other odd hobbies. I’m trying hard to quit watching television and learn more, learn more about life in general, by paying attention to the real world outside the window, and staying unplugged from the virtual zombieland that more people are willingly falling into. Of course that makes for an irony; me typing away here proclaiming that I want to avoid the techno-wasteland! But what my presence here is really about is trying to flex my verbal and writing muscles, to prepare for a few book ideas I have to let out of me. If I don’t, among other symptoms, my mom will kill me soon! I have Artistic skills, but they are not fulfilling; writing stories and songs have so many more levels of expression to them. Drawing as a job? That would kill my interest. Drawing things that have big meaning to me, or writing a book and illustrating it, well, that’s where I’d find pride and achievement.

My view of the real world is currently seen from the Midwestern pastures, but when my dear sons are all situated and on their way, I hope to set some roots down in the beautiful land, the coast of Oregon. Grant’s Pass, here I come, 2012!

Politically I’m mostly liberal but detest lazy suckers, so I have some issue with hand-out programs. I detest greed in all forms, which explains my loathing of most corporations and capitalism. American capitalism rewards a very certain few, and works hard to keep it a small club. Current American policies will never work until we overhaul them. Yes, that means I voted for Ralph Nader in the last two elections! The Republicans and the Democrats have screwed up our country for too long now. They’re ineffective and they’ve both sold out to big business.

Technology really is a dangerous tool; too many people get wrapped up in the ‘connectedness’ thing but really have nothing to say because they don’t ‘DO’ anything! I plan to really work to avoid that trap, as real-world experiences really ARE 10 times more fulfilling. I beseech you all; for every hour you spend online, spend 5 hours outside! Your life will be enriched, I promise you, and you’ll make a difference in the real world!

I implore everyone out there: take the time to smell the flowers, roll in the grasses, let the wind toss you about, seek out the bees and the little bugs, immerse yourself in the world at its own speed. Our worldly worries are self-sustained and quite overcome-able. See the beauty all around you while you can. Laugh at yourself and your small place in the world! Make the most of your time, make the most of yourself. Leave a legacy of improvements and seek integrity in everything you do. Laugh, Love, Live. Repeat unto your last.
